PREVIEWS: Monarchs face Ace test

Birmingham Monarchs travel to Ashmore Park this easter as they take on Wednesfield Aces in the Midland League.

The Monarchs have had a transformation from last season when they struggled in the regional and Elite Leagues. With the Perry Barr side taking a step backwards it has seemed to help them focus as they are looking to the future as well as present.

Birmingham will be taking on a tough Aces side who are favourites to take the Midland Division One title. Monarchs will have captain Chris Timms in the 1-8 as he cameback from his ban last weekend against Coventry. The Winwood duo will also feature as Carl, back in the racing fold, has shown he has lost none of his speed and gating.

Andy James is another rider who has got back on his back and in the red and white and has also shown he has lost none of his track craft. Paul Timms has still not fully recovered from his shoulder injury and looks set to miss the meeting.

The fixture also sees as well as the combination meeting the two sides clash in the Division Three a league which Birmingham are making their debut in and have some great youngsters to look out for.

Racing begins at the slightly earlier time of 12:30pm on Sunday as the youngsters start before a full afternoons of racing gets underway.

Bank Holiday Monday also sees some of the Monarch riders making another trip to Wednesfield as the Christine Ellis Memorial Trophy takes place from 12noon.

Defending champion Chris Timms takes his place in what is once more a stellar lineup. Marcus Wadhams is also in the sixteen as well as top home riders Lee Aris, Ricki Johnson, Paul Heard and Chris Jewkes.

The afternoon also takes in the Dash Trophies Girls Open as well which also has a competitive looking lineup.
