EURO CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS: Timetable update

European Club Championships organiser, Dave Murphy, sent an email to all clubs taking part in the Bank Holiday weekend competition in Exeter with details about the qualification rounds, in which only one team shall now be eliminated, due to East Park and Horspath no longer taking their places in the preliminary rounds.

The email read

Hi Everyone,

I can confirm that Horspath have joined East Park in withdrawing from the Euro Club Championship.  As a result, we have had to slightly modify the schedule for the weekends racing.

This schedule does not change the Day 1 start times or line-ups (as per the original draw) but some of the subsequent qualification rounds have been affected.

The schedule should be self-explanatory, as it helps you identify how teams will progress through the qualifying rounds, during Saturday and Sunday, before the semi-finals and finals on Monday.

To explain the fact that the qualification process prior to the quarter finals will now only result in 1 team being eliminated, I should add that the ICSF requirement is that all travelling teams are enabled to compete in a minimum of 3 rounds (i.e. to make the journey worthwhile from a racing viewpoint).

We look forward to welcoming you all to Exeter for what should provide an interesting feast of racing and, whilst the qualifying process will give teams some useful track time, we can expect some fast and furious competition during the Quarter-finals, Semi’s and Finals.

Please let me know if you have any queries.

Best regards – Dave Murphy
