NEWS: TLI Cycling Eurovets – Chic Mackie withdraws

One of Cycle Speedway`s most endearing personalities – Glasgow`s super veteran Chic Mackie – has had to withdraw from the opening TLI Cycling Eurovets GP at Hosrpath following his recent heart attack whilst racing at Bury.

Mackie was rushed to Manchester Central Hospital where three blocked arteries were revealed as the cause of his heart attack. Although now recovering, this has been set back after he picked up an infection.

It means that Mackie will miss a rare Eurovets GP round this Saturday. He is also set to be on the sidelines for up to 12 weeks as ordered by his doctors. However, the ever smiling Glaswegian hopes to return to the saddle before the end of the season.
