EURO CLUB: Ostrow are Euro Club Champions 2014

Ostrow have won the 2014 Euro Club Championship in Exeter.

The Ostrow team consisting of Piotr Kasperczak, Pawel Idziorek, Marcin Kolata, Syzmon Kowalczyk and World Junior Champion Bartosz Grabowski, came flying out of the blocks, winning the first 4 races off grid 1s in the Grand Final. They came through their grid 4 races with relative damage limitation. A last followed by two thirds and a win for Kasperczak, setting them up with 25 points and a 4 point lead over Torun in second and Ipswich holding third on 18 points at the half way stage.

Torun fought back in the third quarter of the meeting grabbing all 4 wins off their inside gates to lead the meeting by one point going into the last 4 races. Binkowski ran a last for Torun in heat 13 as Grabowski won to tip the scales back in Ostrow’s favour. Then Parandinski returned the favour with a win in heat 14 over Kowalczyk in second.

With two races remaining there was only one point in it, but two wins for Ostrow’s Grabowski and Idziorek saw them over the finishing line as Torun’s challenge faded. Leszno took the third spot as Ipswich struggled stuck out on the grid 4s in the third quarter.

Ipswich did well against tough opposition, unfortunately not making a podium finish, but they can be very proud with their weekend’s work, confirming that they are a team that can mix it up at the highest level.

Ostrow – 51
Torun – 46
Leszno – 36
Ipswich – 25

Congratulations to all the finalists.

Finally a huge well done to Exeter Cycle Speedway Club and all it’s volunteers for providing the busy three days of racing this weekend. Have a well earned rest!
