PREVIEWS: Regional racing this weekend

After Exeter’s successfully held Euro Club Championship last bank holiday weekend, we’re back to business in the four UK regions.

Saturday sees Coventry take on the BYJL Midland Round 2. The event, originally scheduled for Birmingham, was rained off two weeks ago and now takes place 20 miles down the road at the Hearsall Common circuit. The BYJL starts at 10am, with riders needing to be registered and levies paid by 9:30am. The early start is due to the TLI Eurovets Round 2 also taking place at Hearsall Common at 2pm. With the two big events planned, Coventry have arranged a water supply and toilets to be supplied trackside, as well as access to the fancy changing rooms at the Village Hotel, venue for the 2013 British Final Revival party a few hundred yards from the track.

Other Saturday events sees Midland League 3 fixtures between Bretford v Birmingham and Bretford v East Park taking place later in the afternoon. In Suffolk, Ipswich are hosting the Suffolk Junior GP, while Stockport host the Dave Blinston Memorial Trophy meeting.

Moving on to Sunday, there are no fixtures in the Northern League this week. The only action up north is the Northern Junior and Senior Knock-Out Cup at Astley and Tyldesley at 1pm.

The Midlands region have two fixtures. East Park will be looking to do the double over Coventry at home, after well beating the Godiva City side a few weeks ago. Then, just a few miles away, it’s an all Wednesfield affair at Ashmore Park where the Dragons will be up against the Aces.

The South East league has high flyers Ipswich Whirlwinds travelling to the capital to take on East London. Great Blakenham take on Norwich at home and Kesgrave travel to Hethersett to complete this weeks South East League fixtures. The Norfolk League GP3 takes place at the Spixworth track in Norwich in the evening at 7pm.

South and South Wales has an all Elite League team encounter with Newport travelling to the Harbourside. Euro Club Championships hosts Exeter take the Aces over to Southampton and Swindon welcome Hellingly to the Oasis Leisure Centre to round up the regional fixtures for this weekend.
