PREVIEW: Monarchs sent to Coventry

Birmingham Monarchs are back in Midland League action when they take on Coventry at Hearsall Common this Sunday.

The Perry Barr based side have not raced since 20th April when they drew away at Wednesfield but the side have been action in different events between then and now.

Birmingham will be lead once more by captain Chris Timms who last weekend kept the Elite Trophy after beating Gavin Wheeler in Horspath’s win against Poole. The Monarchs will also have Mark Winwood in the ranks who has also looked strong with performances in the Eurovets and the recent win at Poole.

Millward, Groves and Wadhams are also riders who have a good start to the year for Birmingham and their respective Elite League sides and so make the Monarchs look a strong unit. Comeback kids (or maybe that should be chaps!) Carl Winwood and Andy James have both showed they have lost none of the gating skills and track craft.

Coventry will be going into the meeting with a good recent run over the West Midlands side as earlier in the season Coventry took home and away wins in challenge fixtures. The Warwickshire based outfit will have Myke Grimes in their lineup and also possibly Konrad Pietak who is no stranger to Birmingham. Coventry have alot of good fast youngsters coming through the ranks though and so the Monarchs will be taking none of the side for granted.

Racing begins at 2pm at Coventry, Hearsall Common with free admission though programmes and refreshments will be on sale.
