NEWS: Winwood and Harper name Welsh side

Joint Welsh Cycle Speedway team managers, Mark Winwood and Daniel Harper have named their senior and junior teams for the Home International at Newport this weekend.

Newport’s Mark Carmichael leads the way again this year and it will be a welcome return to the Welsh team for Ben Mould who was banned for last year’s Home International at Wednesfield. Mark Winwood and Nicky Evans join the side, who are without Jack Harrold as he is currently living in Australia. Jacob Soper is promoted up to the senior team after impressing last year in the Juniors and this season for Newport.

For the Juniors Jacob Soper will be making an appearance as well as the Seniors, Ieuan Payne of Underwood, Adam Bennett of Newport and Wednesfield’s Carl Parfitt are also in the side. Winwood and Harper also did some shrewd business in snapping up Coventry’s promising youngsters Mason Phillips and Kyle Roberts, both of whom have Welsh blood and will make their Welsh debuts this weekend.
