LEAGUE TABLES: South and South Wales League

Here are the updated South and South Wales League tables, as of 4th August 2014.

South and South Wales League – Division 1

1 Newport 9 8 0 1 856 740 16
2 Poole 9 7 0 2 860 736 14

4 Horspath 8 4 0 4 693 725 6
5 Exeter 8 2 0 6 674 737 4
6 Swindon 8 2 0 6 669 752 4
7 Hellingly 6 1 0 5 520 554 2

Newport moved to the top of the table with their win against Horspath on Sunday, which saw the Oxford side slip to fourth on points difference. Poole have led the pace so far until the Welsh side took advantage of their match in hand, the reigning champions will be believing they can take the title back to the Olympic Village again this year. Southampton’s points difference means they moved ahead of Horspath without turning a wheel at the weekend, a third place finish will be the most they, and their rivals around them can hope for with the top two teams running away with it. Exeter will be looking at the places above them as they’ve lost out in some close matches this year. Swindon have struggled with rider availability in recent months, hopefully they can somehow pull together a team to fulfil their remaining four fixtures. Perhaps some guest riders are in order? Hellingly are bottom, but they are likely to put more points on the board, especially in their home matches.
