TV: Cycle Speedway on Fox Sports
You never know where Cycle Speedway will end up! We knew that the British Final was scheduled to be aired around the world and here’s the proof, as one cycle fan across the Atlantic, found himself a new cycling discipline that he can enjoy.
The cycling fan tuned in to Fox Sports in the USA to watch the Tour of Utah stage race, when the station had technical issues. Whilst waiting for it to be resolved, they ran the 2013 British Final from Coventry. Cycle Speedway’s newest fan had this to say:
OK, I’VE BEEN FOLLOWING, RIDING OR INVOLVED IN CYCLING SINCE 1983 (PARTIALLY THANKS TO GREG LEMOND) AND HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING MOTORCYCLE SPEEDWAY SINCE THE EARLY 80′S ALSO BUT NEVER KNEW THERE WAS CYCLING SPEEDWAY. ON MONDAY THE TOUR OF UTAH STARTED AND HAD TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES AND DEFAULTED TO CYCLING SPEEDWAY IN ENGLAND! I COULD NOT STOP WATCHING AND PROBABLY ENJOYED IT MORE THAN THE UTAH STAGE RACE. THE BIKES WERE ALUMINUM SINGLE SPEED WITH NO CLIP LESS PEDALS AND WHAT APPEARED TO BE A SPEC HANDLEBAR THAT WERE OF A WHEELBARROW BEND! THEY CLAIMED BOTH MEN’S AND WOMEN’S BRITISH CHAMPIONS ALSO! THOUGHT I KNEW OF MOST EVERY DISCIPLINE OF OUR SPORT BUT JUST DISCOVERED SPEEDWAY ON MONDAY ON THE CABLE TV BY MISTAKE!

Thanks to Graham Sutton sending in for this great find, which was originally retweeted by the Ipswich Eagles.
