AUSTRALIA: Japanese “wonder boy” stuns Findon

A chance visit to the Reserve Parade circuit captured the attention of Masamoto Kato, a 16 year old Japanese student at present in Adelaide on an educational visit.

After two training sessions he was encouraged to compete in a Individual Championship at Findon on Sunday and his all round performance was outstanding to say the least.

Later this year he will be progressing his education at Southampton University and without doubt the opportunity to resume his cycle speedway activities.

Unfortunately his confirmed arrival date in the UK on Friday 7th August would preclude him from competing in the early stages of the World Junior Individual Championships.

However, if the ICSF could relax their ruling on “seeded” riders, then the media coverage, not only for the Wednesfield Club, but the sport worldwide would benefit greatly.
