NEWS: Bury Cycle Speedway celebrate success in British Cycling Go Ride Awards

Bury Cycle Speedway Club celebrated some success at the British Cycling Go-Ride Awards yesterday. The Greater Manchester side were nominated in the 2014 Go Ride Club of the Year award, along with over 100 other cycling clubs from the North West, Yorkshire and the west Midlands, eventually taking runners up spot.

The club who took the top spot was from the West Midlands, meaning Bury were the top Go Ride Club in the North West and Yorkshire areas. A real recognition for the club as the nominated clubs were not only Cycle Speedway clubs, but from all disciplines. To be recognised from outside of their own sector of cycling by the sports governing body, is a real achievement, not only for the club, but for Cycle Speedway in general.

Bury’s John Burston commented, “I’d like to say a great thank you to all the officials, volunteers and club members for all the hard work put in during the last 2 years, in which the club has been awarded; 3 Gold young volunteer awards, a North West Coach of the year award, and Young volunteer of the year award – all from Go ride and British Cycling and Go Ride. Bury Councils Coach of the year 2014 also went the way of the Comets, and now this Club of the year award tops of a great period for our team.”

Congratulations to all at Bury from 33/18 News, keep up the good work.
