TONIGHTS ACTION: GB v Poland test match & World Team Cup Qualification

It’s all roads leading to Poole for tonights Cycle Speedway action, with the World Team Cup qualification at 7pm, followed by Great Britain v Poland in a one match test.

The draw for the World Team Cup qualification is as follows:

Poole – July 30th – World Cup Qualifying Round: (1st & 2nd qualify for Final)

1. Scotland
2. Wales
3. Ireland
4. Australia

The top two teams qualify for the World Team Cup Final on Sunday, also at Poole. They will join current holders Poland and hosts England.

Scotland gave a good account for themselves at the Home International, they will face a stern test against Wales and Australia though, who go in as favourites to qualify. The Welsh finished third overall two years ago and will be going all out to make the final.

The Australians will be expected to qualify, with a strong pool of riders to choose from. Ireland’s team is unclear, although Charlie Rumbold is expected to feature, Lewis Roberts is also a likely contender.

For the GB v Poland test match, this could be a cracker. Although it’s currently unknown exactly who will feature for the Poles, the provisional list of riders for the test offers up a mouth watering prospect ahead. Those riders are; P. Binkowski, G.Gluchowski, B.Grabowski, M.Kolata, S.Kowalczyk, M.Paradzinski, S. Paruzel, A. Szymanski and M.Szymanski.

Dave Murphy has picked a strong GB team to compete against the fast starting Poles. The team lines up as; Lee Aris, Mark Boaler, Myke Grimes, Paul Heard (c), Ben Mould, Aaron Smith, Chris Timms and Gavin Wheeler.

It should be a competitive match and offers an insight into how the federation cup might shape up at East Park next week.

That’s all for today, tomorrow it’s the ICSF World Individual qualifiers!
