MATCH REPORT: Leicester Ladies make it a perfect ten

Leicester Ladies maintained their domination of the team championship with an unprecedented tenth consecutive victory at Glover Park today. Nearest rivals Ipswich put up a strong fight and had opened up a two point lead  after the fourth heat, taking 14 points from their inside grids.

The Monarchs eventually overhauled their East Anglian rivals in the sixth heat, from that point the home club only dropped two points in the next eight races and in effect put the meeting beyond doubt.

Ipswich only suffered three last places, they were always in the thick of the action and certainly made Leicester work hard, particularly in the early stages.

Sheffield took the bronze medal with World Champion Vicky Brown cruising to a well deserved maximum. Birmingham were far from disgraced and were involved in some of the better races for the minor places, the Nat Timms/Gemma Hill battle in the penultimate heat being a good example of the total commitment shown.

Leicester were greeted by a sporting guard of honour from the other riders as they left the pits to collect their winners medals, a well deserved accolade for a team that must rank as one of, if not the most successful ever.
