NEWS: Newport and Underwood in club merger

Underwood Cycle Speedway members will be joining forces with Newport Cycle Speedway Club at the end of the season in an attempt to assist riders at both tracks.

Underwood Flyers club secretary, Chris Wright explains the merger, “Membership has been down for sometime, and a lack of helpers has made it impossible to apply to host major events at the small picturesque welsh track. It has slso been difficult to form a full committee due to a lack of volunteers.”

Chris and Beccy, who run the flyers are delighted that Newport have accepted them and their youngsters in and are looking forward to a brighter more enjoyable future, a future that will mean the local riders can train on the smallest and one of the largest tracks in our sport, and the formation of one big club can only be a positive for Welsh Cycle Speedway.

Newport club secretary, Colin Simmons said his club offered to assist in the running of Underwood for 2016, but it then agreed to a request to go under the Newport name and go as one club and work together.
