MATCH REPORT: South East GP from Hethersett

Hethersett Hawks/Swinton & Co hosted 30 riders from across East Anglia for the penultimate round of the South-East Grand Prix. Four Hethersett riders took part and Katie Adams was the unchallenged winner of the Girls competition.

Daniel Longlands finished fourth in the Under-14s, Nigel Longlands fifth in the Veterans and Giles Awbery seventh in the Under-12s. Other category winners were Charlie Parr (Kesgrave – Under-8s), Jake Cazey (Kesgrave – Under-10s), Lewis Brinkhoff (Kesgrave – Under-12s), Charlie Long (Kesgrave – Under-14s), Alex Harvey (Ipswich – Under-17s), Fraser Harris (Ipswich – Seniors) and Gary Brown (Kesgrave – Veterans).

The Hawks face the final showdown in the South East League on Sunday with a double-header in Suffolk against the Ipswich teams, Whirlwinds and Eagles. Following the Whirlwinds victory in the recent midweek local derby, the scenario is clear for the Hawks – they need to beat both teams, with the victory over the Eagles needing to be by at least seven points, to win the League. A sole victory by that margin against the Eagles will secure runners-up spot in the final table. The “B” team are also in action at Ipswich.
