NEWS: Newport officially out of the 2016 Elite League

Newport Cycle Speedway race their final Elite League fixture on Sunday, when they take on Poole at Newport’s Sports Village. The meeting will mark the end of the club’s two year Elite League adventure.

Newport have not applied for the Elite League in 2016. Reasons include referee and travel costs, together with a lack of strength in depth at the Welsh club to make the impact that they wanted. However, a spokesman for  the club has said Newport have enjoyed the racing and experience, and have learned a lot.
