MATCH REPORT: Newport victory keeps them on top as Boaler returns

Newport (Dig It Landscapes) Cycle Speedway Team won a hard fought match at Horspath last Sunday, after a last heat decider to keep them firmly at the summit of the South and South Wales Division 1 league table, winning by 92 points to 86.

The Welsh 8 were missing three regulars through injury, but just had enough to cover to win against a strong home team.

Mark Carmichael dropped just one point and he received solid backing from all the team, with the two Bennett cousins, Adam and Sean turning out an impressive performance.

For Horspath, British champion Zac Payne had a fine meeting, along with the returning Mark Boaler and consistent Andy Johnson.
