RIDER NEWS: Parr sidelined with knee injury

Northumbria have received a blow that their top rider and skipper, Gavin Parr has been ruled out for the next 4-6 weeks due to a knee injury sustained while racing Motor Speedway.

Parr said: “I have sustained a tear of my medial collateral ligament and have been told that I wont be able to run or race for between 4 and 6 weeks.

“This will definitely rule me out of defending my British over 40s title although to be honest it was very doubtful whether I was going to enter and travel anyway.

“Luckily with a knee brace which I have purchased, I’m hoping to still be able to ride Speedway but running the Great North Run in September and Cycle Speedway are off the map, along with a lot of my training including bootcamps.

“I’m pretty gutted but determined to get back as soon as possible.”

We wish Gavin all the best for his recovery.
