MATCH REPORT: Hellingly lose against full strength Hethersett

Hellingly Lions traveled to Hethersett on Sunday for a South East League fixture.

Neil Hollebon took the chequered flag in heat 1 but with the Norfolk duo taking the all important 2nd and 3rd places the heat was shared 5-5.

Heat 2 saw Jesse Moore slip on the first bend with Steven Archer just unable to get the better of Olly Buxton, the lions found themselves trailing by 4.

Dan Chambers flew from the gate in heat 3 with veteran duo Martyn Hollebon and Ed Ridley chasing him home the deficit remained at 4.

Leigh Cossey clamped Jim Cox on the first bend in heat 4 and with Neil Hollebon only managing 2nd.

With heat 5 shared 5-5, the lions now 6 behind, Ed Ridley and Harley Hamill battled for the all important 3rd in heat 6 but with the youngster just getting the better of Ed. The lions were now 8 behind.

With a couple of shared heats before the interval, the lions knew that only their best would do in the second half of the meeting.

Heat 9 saw Ed excluded for moving at the tapes leaving Martyn to take the chequered flag for a 5-4 heat loss. 5 shared heats followed and at 9 points behind with just 2 heats to go, the lions knew that they had failed to gain any league points baring a major mishap.

Jim Cox and Martyn Hollebon closed the scoreline in heat 15 securing Hellingly’s only maximum heat advantage of the day. The final heat of the day saw Hethersett gain a 6-4 advantage.
