MATCH REPORT: Newport progress to 3rd consecutive KO Cup Semi Final
Newport “Dig it” cycle speedway team defeated Poole at home by 97 points to 78 in the quarter finals of the British KO cup. The team now progress to their 3rd consecutive semi final.
Newport opened up an early lead in heat 3 through the Harrold /Sidwick pairing. Further wins from the impressive Bennett, Davies and Harrold again enabled the Welsh team to open up a 5 point interval lead.
Poole youngsters Jay Briggs and Aaron Smith were keeping the Dorset team in contention but they lacked the required support. Newport having much more strength down the order with the likes of Clark, Burnell, Jones and Davies all doing well.
Jack Harrold scored a fine maximum with Mark Carmichael suffering a tapes exclusion to spoil his maximum.
