MATCH REPORT: Dragons see off Monarchs

A solid Wednesfield Dragons outfit saw off the challenge of a spirited Leicester Monarchs side in an entertaining encounter at Ashmore Park on Sunday.

At the interval the visitors were trailing by just two points but always appeared to be just hanging onto the coat tails of the home side, and so it turned out as the Dragons gradually increased their advantage.

Both Jewkes and Whetton rode unbeaten by an opponent, whilst the visitors mainly packed the minor places, only taking the chequered flag on four occasions. The real difference though came at reserve where the Dragons pair of Everiss and Bewick notched 18 points against Leicester’s 6.

The result caps off the best season to date for the Dragons team, while Leicester can be happy with their performance throughout the campaign.
