CLUB NEWS: Coventry membership surge sees sell out presentation night

The Coventry Cycle Speedway club end of season Presentation Party has posted the ‘sold out’ notices – two weeks in advance. It signals another success for one of the sports top clubs. Its netted the club a mini windfall of over £400.

All tickets for the popular bash, set for the Craftsman Public House Function Room, on Friday 18th November, were sold out for the first time ever. This included the club selling 72 tickets in just over two hours on its Facebook page last week.

Headed by three times British champion Andy Angell, most of Coventry’s Elite League squad will be present, including Mike Baldock and their ‘northern powerhouse’ foursome of Jake Read, Chris Parish, Adam Watson and Ben Higham.

Almost all of their fifty plus riders are set to attend, alongside parents, officials, supporters and key long serving members, such as Dave Foster and Jez Hughes who did much to play a part in the Coventry revival of 2011.

The evening will be enhanced by the presence of nearly twenty of the new Brandon Bees team and parents, who under the wildly successful ‘Dirt Bike Club’ banner, have brilliantly revived the sport at Bretford Playing Fields, just on the outskirts of Coventry.

A Coventry club spokesman said: “We are known throughout the sport as a friendly and welcoming club, who know how to party. We shall certainly be doing that on Friday 18th November as we celebrate another hugely enjoyable and successful year.

“It will also give us a chance to look forward to 2017, with the expectation of a new track track construction in the north of Coventry, and continued promotion of our vibrant local scene in which so many of us have contributed”.
