NEWS: Midlands AGM report

Seven Midland clubs including Brandon and Stoke were in attendance at the Midland region AGM yesterday, which took place in Wednesfield.

There were new committee members elected at the meeting. Lee Marsh was voted in as the new secretary, while YJL coordinator, Ross Mee takes the position of league recorder. Chris Timms was elected as a rider representative.

Midland League 1 and 2 will run as the previous season, but Midland League 3 has been rebranded as the Development League (MDL), Leicester’s Nicky Whitehead has been appointed to coordinate this.

The Development League is now compulsory for all clubs, with an U14 age limit, although newly registered U16s will be permitted.

Clubs who field different riders in all teams for ML1, ML2 and MDL fixtures, will receive a bonus league point added to ML1 total. This represents 18 riders minimum and is a fine incentive to boost recruitment.

The Midland YJL will be expanded to 7 rounds, with all clubs, including Stoke and Brandon taking their turn to host a round.

The Midland League’s top averaged 16 senior and juniors on August 1st will feature in the Midland League Individual Championships later in the season.

Finally, the new CS competitions plan for 2017 was well received by all clubs.
