2017 WORLDS: Team GB management plan ahead for Worlds

The Team GB managers eagerly await the series in November 2017 in Australia, and give an update to all the hopefuls who wish to be part of the final squads who will be tasked to retain the test-series in Australia.

Speaking to 33/18 News, Great Britain Team Manager, Lee Aris commented: “The agenda has now been fixed, the current Cycle Speedway season comes to a close and our focus shifts to winning in Australia. We plan to build a squad that is more than capable of achieving this goal with talented characters who will wear the Great Britain shirt with pride and passion and conducting themselves as expected when representing their nation.

“An initial selection process for the senior men will take place within the next two weeks, this initial process will consist of approximately 17 riders. These will be invited to attend various training camps and other activities throughout the 2017 season.

Aris continued: “In September 2017 the final squad (approximately 12 riders) will be selected on merit to achieve our goal of winning in Australia. The Great Britain Women’s and Junior Team Managers (Geoff Gamage and Steve Mullinder respectively) will be go through a similar process. “We believe this process gives Great Britain the best possible chance of succeeding, with structured training camps to build on ability and camaraderie to take on our travels to Australia.  We look forward to our challenge ahead and working with the squad.”

The Team GB management team leading the squads next year consist of Lee Aris (Great Britain Team Manager), Steven Mullinder (Great Britain Junior Team Manager), Geoff Gamage (Great Britain Ladies Team Manager) and Stuart Raven (Great Britain Head Coach)
