WORLDS 2017: Team GB Management Newsletter #1

The Team GB tour management team have released their first newsletter for the 2017 World Championships Tour in Australia in November.

This month’s newsletter features flight details, which are now available to book online.

Flights

A group flight has been obtained with approx. cost is £920pp. We have identified flights that can be booked individually and offer substantial savings. Obviously these savings are multiplied when a family needs to book multi-flights. Our recommendation is to create own mini groups and book a flight direct, leaving the UK on the 10th November 2017, the return Journey leaves Adelaide on Monday 4th December.

Example of flights – Flights (as seen 5th January) using www.netflights.com

Once you have booked your flight please advise Paul West at BCHQ (paulwest@britishcycling.org.uk) giving details of your flight plan.

Due to the likely hood of different arrival times into Adelaide you will need to obtain a taxi to the accommodation quarters (approx. $50). Transport will be arranged from the Sunday (12th November) onward (see below)

Accommodation

We are looking to get a booking on the Adelaide Beachfront Caravan Park (the one we have used on previous tours). Upon research we believe this is the best offering regarding location, Amenities on offer, Range of accommodations, and costs. –Brad Hoppo will visit the caravan park in early January to open communication on our behalf.  Current estimate costs for this caravan park is £650pp based on 4 people sharing.  Details of how to book this accommodation along with more information on this option of will be advised as soon as it is available.

Transport

Transport will be arranged to be used for the squad and others during our visit. You are asked to advise when you give Paul West your Flight Plan if you wish to take advantage of this. (we are aware that some will prefer to book their own transport).  Once we have the numbers we will book transport to suit. This will be used to get to race meeting and agreed recreational venues during the tour. There will be more than one vehicle to hopefully satisfy majority.

Training Camps

Training camps will be arranged by the appropriate managers and BC CS Head Coach Stuart Raven during the year for those included within the Provisional GB Team Squads, Hopefully the first Camp will take place end of February / early March for all. We are awaiting on booking a suitable venue. Further detail to be released.

Racing Jerseys and associate clothing

GB racing jerseys and training tops will be supplied to those who are selected to ride for Great Britain in the Team Events. Other clothing including racing bottoms, Polo-shirts, Hoodies and hats will be made available, each hopefully FOC or at a discounted price

Under 18s

All under 18s travelling as part of the Tour Party are reminded that they must be accompanied by their Parent/Guardian. Where this is not planned such individuals may be accompanied by another adult who shall be of the same gender and fully responsible for them throughout the period of their time away from home. A letter from the Parent/Guardian stating that they approve of this arrangement will be required. This needs to be sent to Paul West at BCHQ before the rider is entered into these Championships

Sponsorship

We are aware that many riders are already actively seeking financial support from various quarters in order to participate in these Championships. In order to assist you Paul West will send to you a letter of support shortly which will hopefully help with this process.

Code of Conduct

All those from Great Britain travelling as part of the GB Tour Party will be required to sign a code of conduct in advance of the Championships. For those looking to ride, this shall be prior to entries being submitted to the Championship organisers

Withdrawal of Interest

Whilst it is very much hoped that all those who have so far expressed an interest in travelling to Australia for these Championships maintain this commitment it is asked that any rider who decides not to travel, let Paul West know so that the Tour Management can be informed as appropriate

The Tour Management Team – Lee Aris, Geoff Gamage and Steve Mullinder will meet regularly and work towards putting together a tour package / information and assist individuals and groups. Please contact us should you have any queries. We plan to release news updates.
