TRANSFER NEWS: Neighbours switch to Hammers, while Osbornes head home

Horspath Hammers have signed Swindon’s sibling duo, Jake and Alice Neighbour for the 2017 season, while Lewis and Chris Osborne head back to their hometown club, Great Blakenham.

Welcoming the Neighbours to Horspath, team Manager, Zac Payne said: “Jake has been in exceptional form the last season, coming 2nd in Europe in the junior category and riding every week for the hammers elite league squad; as well as regional racing for the Swindon Robins.

“I spoke to Jake near the end of last season regarding his plans for this year and what the situation was at Horspath with no elite league in 2017”

Jake is going to be a great asset to the Horspath first team, where the Hammers believe he will be able to improve as a rider and learn from the likes of current European champion Lukas Nowacki and former-British champions, Mark Boaler and Zac Payne.

Payne continued: “Jake is a very close friend of mine and I’m looking forward to racing with him next year as a friend and team partner.

“We are also welcoming Alice into the Horspath junior setup, as a multiple British champion herself within the girls category. This will be a huge boost to the juniors at the club and she will play a big role in the Horspath second team”

Geoff Gamage added: “I’m more than happy to have both riders at the club and I’m looking forward to the new season”

Lewis Osborne heads back to Great Blakenham

“The club would also like to thank Lewis Osborne and brother Chris for their commitment to the club. In Lewis’s case, over ten seasons at the Hammers racing at top level. Horspath can confirm the paperwork has been completed for them to go to Great Blakenham.”
