MATCH REPORT: BYJL SW&W Rd1 from Newport

Saturday was sun drenched in South Wales for the 69 riders who made the trip to the tight Underwood track.

Jack Tidball from Exeter was the victor in the U8s A final after dropping just one point through the heats. Impressive newbies, Rylee Dunford and Eli Lamb, both Poole Comets, were second and third, with fourth place going to Exeter’s Charlie Martin.

There were twenty two riders in the U10s and Exeter’s JJ Wildman continued his impressive form from last year by going unbeaten all day. Second was talented grandson of Arthur Lawrence, Kenzie Bennett, with last year’s U8 Champion, Scott Rowles, third, both from Poole. Fourth was Mckenzie Laing from Exeter.

Rosie Tidball from Exeter was a strong U12s winner, remaining unbeaten. Team mate, Shannon Tucker was second with Newport’s Madoc Howells third. Nathan Loveridge from Horspath was fourth.

An exciting U14s final saw Dan Wright winning on his home track, followed by Exeter’s Ben Stanbury second, Exeter’s Harry Stanbury third with Nathan Goulden from Poole fourth.

Local rider, Sean Bennett, just about took the honours in U18s A final, from a gate 1. Poole riders made up the rest of the A final with Fraser Garnett, who was unbeaten in the heats, having to settle for second, Danny Byrne third and Ben Tinsdale fourth.

Poole’s Macie Schmidt headed the girls entry of nine riders and duly won the A final followed Horspath’s Alice Neighbour in second. Poole team mates, Bethany Briggs and Madeline Saunders taking third and fourth.
