CLUB NEWS: Monarchs unbeaten run continues

Birmingham Monarchs took victory in a tight encounter at Hearsall Common on Sunday, with the lead switching right until the closing stages before the Monarchs men took the league points in Division one action.

It was the home side that took the initial lead but were soon pegged back by the visiting  Monarchs who lead going into the interval. Again, it was the Coventry side who started strong with a maximum in heat 10 and held a narrow 1 point lead.

They maintained the lead with a run of drawn heats until they found themselves with only one rider due to injury to Kyle Roberts in heat 16. A 6-3 in that heat gave the monarchs the advantage with 2 races remaining.

It all came down to the final heat to secure victory with Chris Timms and Nathan Groves securing a maximum to give an extended final score.

Timms top scored as he continues his recovery from injury, but had decent back up despite 3 of the senior team missing the meeting.

The Division 2 encounter was all one sided with the home side dominating proceedings. Ewan Hancox top scored and was the only rider in double figures.

The day started with a win for the mini Monarchs who took a hard fought but well deserved win. All the youngsters played their part in keeping ahead of the Coventry youngsters throughout the match. Dylan Hawtin top scored for the Monarchs.

There is no home action at the track this Sunday, with the Monarchs travelling to Poole in the South West Cross over League.

Training continues at the track every Tuesday and Thursday. Under 16s 6PM, seniors 7PM.
