RIDER NEWS: Herbert amateur sports personality of the year in Exeter

Exeter’s Aaron Herbert took home the top amateur award at the Exeter Express & Echo Sports Personality awards last month.

Aaron, who’s legal name is Sellick but has been known as Herbert since he was 3, qualified for his first senior open British final at his home track in 2016 and had his best season in the sport to date.

Proud mother, Georgina said: “Aaron has been racing Cycle Speedway since he was 9 years old. Not many people know he suffers from ADHD and autism.

Aaron collects his award.

“He scored well for Exeter Aces as well as his British final qualification last year and always gives one hundred percent. This sport has really helped him build his confidence and self esteem.

“It is great, that finally Cycle Speedway has been recognised. I was one proud Mum witnessing Aaron winning amateur sports personality in Exeter.”

Well done Aaron!
