TEAM GB: Aris set for Poland test

Last month, Great Britain Team Manager Lee Aris accepted the invitation from the Polish Cycle Speedway to compete in a test match. The venue is Zielona Gora on Saturday 3rd June start time 3pm.

Aris said: “I’m delighted we are able to fulfil a fixture against Poland in Poland, I’m pleased about the positive response from the squad, seeing their desire to travel and compete, meaning we have a strong competitive team to go and contest for the victory. I’m also pleased about the support received from British Cycling assisting with the fixture.

“We can only take positives from a trip and fixture like this, the trip begins with a light training session at East London Cycle Speedway Club on Thursday evening before we head off to Dover and begin our travels.

“The team will be travelling via minibus and sharing accommodation, which will assist in team moral, a vital ingredient I want to have. The Great Britain Squad has an important year with the pinnacle competition being in Australia in November. No doubt we have the calibre and quality in the squad to be victorious and my focus will be ensuring we are prepared and ready to perform together as a team.

“This fixture against Poland is a perfect test for us at this time and we are hoping for a return fixture later on in the year. Special thanks and mention to East London Cycle Speedway Club to assist us on Thursday Evening and to Poland Cycle Speedway who have been very accommodating in agreeing to a venue to reduce travel time and a start time to suit our arrival time.”
