CLUB NEWS: Steel crowned U12s champion for Monarchs

As expected, Connor Steel dominated the BYJL under 12s taking 5 wins, including the A final taking victory on his home track and sealed the title as well. He had to do it the hard way in the final, making a stunning burst around his main opponent, Jonathan Middleton, down the home straight to take the win.

Just shy of 70 youngsters turned out to take part at Perry Hall Playing Fields on Saturday in the final round of the YJL competition. First up was 7 year old debutant, Izzy Buet Gannon in the under 8s, who scored a credible 9 points and came 3rd in the B final.

U10s podium

Charlie Buet Gannon was next up in the U10s. Beaten only by winner Ronnie Wassall so was 2nd in the A final. He also finished joint 3rd overall.

In the U12s whilst Steel was taking all the glory, Rebekah Humphries joined him in the A final taking 3rd place on the day. A great result for a solid day of racing. Jamie Breen struggled to recover from moving at the start in his first heat, however he won the C final of the U12s.

U12s Podium

Ryan Winwood took 3rd place in the A final in the U14s and just missed out on an overall podium place, whilst Leicester rider Lizzie Rigley took victory in the girls and secured overall victory.

In the U18s, Marc Phipps won the D final after a couple of falls, whilst William Arkinstall had to withdraw from the D final with a knee injury, but rode with more aggression throughout.

Jake Steel took an impressive victory in the C final to finish strongly, whilst Ewan Hancox missed out on the A final but took victory in the B final. Congratulations to East Park’s Jake White on victory on the day.
