COACHING: Cycle Speedway specific coaching course set for April

On Saturday 21st April 2018, a Cycle Speedway “Discipline Specific” Coaching course will be taking place at East Park, Wolverhampton.

The course is open to all level 2 qualified coaches. To make sure of your place please enrol through British Cycling.

Also taking place, on the same day at the same venue, will be a Continued Personal Development course designed to enhance the existing skills of qualified cycle speedway coaches.

Since developing this programme three years ago the number of fully qualified coaches within the sport has risen from just six to twenty-two. There are another twenty level two coaches who, once they are compliant with up to date DBS, Safeguarding and First Aid qualifications, will be eligible to achieve Discipline Specific qualifications.

The “No Brakes” ruling is still in place which effectively means that if you are not Discipline Specific qualified you are not covered by insurance if you coach riders on cycle speedway bikes.

The Cycle Speedway commission and coaching work group are determined to drive the sport forwards through excellence and it is in everyone’s interest to fully support this initiative.
