MATCH REPORT: Poole get their home season underway with Spring Cup win

The weather did its best to spoil the season opener at Harbourside Park but Poole and Horspath contested an entertaining Spring Cup encounter, reduced to a straight two team event after Newport defaulted citing transport problems.

Zac Payne provided the spearhead for the Hammers and his encounters with the home trio of Dawid Bas, Maciej Ganczarek and skipper Dean Hook provided the top end highlights while there was plenty of tactical team racing on show with 13 bonus points shared between the two sets of riders.

Despite a month of almost constant rain the track raced perfectly, in no small measure due to the efforts of Neil Garnett along with club colleagues who have worked tirelessly to ensure the match was able to go ahead. Fingers will crossed for better conditions in 2 weeks’ time when Round 1 of the Battle of Britain comes to town.
