PREVIEW: South East and East look to wrap up Supertrax title

Coventry Cycle Speedway Club host the only Supertrax Battle of Britain action today, following the rearrangement of the North & Scotland v South West & Wales due to rider unavailability.

It’s set to be a cracker though, and it could see South East and East all but wrap up the Elite Men’s title, should they beat the Midlands.

The visitors are unbeaten in the league so far, while the Midlands, North & Scotland and South West & Wales all have one win and two losses each.

This afternoon will present a far sterner test for the league leaders, who have yet to face a full strength team in the competition, and the very best of the Midlands are expected to turn out today, which will make for a fine spectacle for onlookers.

The SE&E junior squad look to extend their lead at the top also, although they still have North & Scotland in hot pursuit. Both teams meet in round 5, which will likely decide the title or even a play off depending on other results.

Last year’s elite junior champions the Midlands lost key riders through age and also retirement over the winter, but still have a squad who put bodies on the line for the cause.

Matches start at 1pm (elite junior) and 2:30pm approx. (elite senior).

Down in Poole, it’s the second round of the Women’s League in Poole. The feast of Women’s CS action features a team event and two classes of individual racing.

The top women racers go head to head in the elite class while the younger or more inexperienced take part in the intermediate class.

The picturesque Harbourside venue providing a perfect back drop for an excellent afternoon of racing.
