CLUB NEWS: Hawks finish weekend racing at home for 2018

HETHERSETT HAWKS / MYHILL DECORATORS brought down the curtain on weekend racing at the Memorial Playing Field for 2018 by staging a successful Hethersett Charity Cup, sponsored by Breckland Autos. With half the field travelling from outside the County it was very competitive and former winner Ashley Hill from Ipswich regained the Cup after a race-off with veteran Craig Marchant from Leicester. Home favourite Liam Webster was in good form and got himself into a race-off for third place but the Ipswich rider Richard Fellgett showed him a clean pair of wheels in the race-off. Neil Hollebon from Hellingly was awarded the Most Entertaining Rider award, presented in memory of ex-Hawk Colin chamberlain who passed away in July.

Liam Webster gained some consolation by beating holder Leigh Cossey in a race-off for the Hethersett Senior Club Championship. Owen Wells finished third but the previous day went one better in the final Under-18 regional grand prix at Ipswich. Shaun kell and sister Josie also came runners-up in Under-10s and Girls while Daniel Longlands and Paul Delaiche finished 4th and 5th respectively in the Under-18s.

Hethersett’s final competitive action of the season is at Eaton Park on Sunday where they take on Division 2 Champions Kesgrave in the Divisional Knock-Out Cup Final at 1 p.m.
