MATCH REPORT: Hull are gone for a Burton in defeat at Sheffield

Sheffield won the Yorkshire bragging rights with a 71-49 victory over Hull at Cookson Park in North and Scotland region League Division Two, on the back of a dominant display of racing from Kielan Burton (who would score a 20 point maximum).
Matt Eglen won heat one for Hull from an ever pressing Laura Watson. Kielan started his perfect night with a win heat 2, Stars gaining a 6-4 with Luke Morton keeping David Cooper in last place. Sheffield got the first of four maximum 7-3 heat wins in race 3. Kielan pouncing to pass Matt on lap three and being joined by Luke. David got the first of three race wins in heat 4, with an outside blast that took him past Laura. Another 7-3 for Sheffield in heat 5, with Kielan again instrumental in creating an opportunity for both him and Laura to pass Frank Auffret. The Hull riders were doing no wrong on the track, it was just that the Stars were in such good form. Niamh Morton and Luke went around the outside of Matt in heat 6 to give the half time score Sheffield 37 Hull 23. Sheffield gave 11 year old reserve Oliver Mackenzie an outing in heat 8, he not quite having the speed to pass Rich Pawson. Kielan and Luke again struck a maximum over Matt, Kielan again making a supreme passing manoeuvre.
Kielan finished the match by winning heat 12, with Frank pushing all the way, young Oliver getting his second pass of the night over Will Alvey.
A great nights racing, with plenty of passing from both sets of riders.
