CLUB NEWS: Monarch men reach World Finals in Poland

Birmingham riders have represented club and nation in Poland over the last 2 weeks with the World Championship titles and nation competitions doing battle. The Poles, Australia and all regions of the UK took part in the 2 week long competitions.
Senior riders Chris Timms, Paul Heard and Mark Winwood all reached the weekend finals (10th/11th) after making it thru the qualifiers.

Mark came 7th in the Veterans final (Over 40’s) which was
won by former Monarch Dominik Rycharski of Poland and Coventry. In the senior final Chris had 2 exclusions to finish on 7 points whilst Paul won a heat on his way to 11 points. New World champion is Ben Mould from Wales.
England took a title in the U16 Girls and Ireland a title in the Grand Veterans (over 50’s). There was also success for GB in the Veterans Federation Cup and Junior World Cup. Senior GB side took silver in senior Federation Cup, Junior Federation Cup and World Cup seniors.
2 weeks ago Birmingham lost at Poole in the English League 95-83. Heard with 19 and Timms on 13 were top scorers for the visitors.​
At the halfway stage of the YJL (youth and Junior league) Charlie Buet Gannon and Connor Steel sit 7th in the ranking in the U12s and 14s respectively. Bekah Humphries is 5th in the girls. Issy Buet Gannon is 15th in the U10s. The 3rd round is at Hull this Saturday.
There is no further league action in August as the final weekend of the month is the British Championships which are being held in Ipswich, Norwich, Kesgrave and Great Blakenham.
