CLUB NEWS: Hawks gear up for competitive racing

HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES have been successfully staging limited training sessions within strict guidelines since early July and the twice-weekly sessions have attracted many new members, the majority of whom are Under-12 and a high-percentage of new female members. They have been able to learn all the skills and, more recently, been introduced into actual racing against each other.

All members will now get the chance to step up to competitive racing – the first in the County since early March – when Hethersett stage the Norfolk Championships at the Memorial Playing Field on the next four Sundays. The Championships in some form have been staged every year since 1955 so it is good that the pandemic will hopefully not prevent that record continuing.

Action opens this Sunday with the Under-8s at 2 p.m. followed by the Ladies / Girls at 4 p.m. Both should be very interesting with lots of new faces taking part.
