MATCH REPORT: Manchester Individual GP Round 3

Astley & Tyldesley staged Round 3 of the Manchester Individual Grand Prix series at Gin Pit on Sunday. It was a cool, dry afternoon, with 20 riders turning out.

Astley & Tyldesley’s Duncan Whalley and Bury’s Tom Dunphy dropped a point apiece to each other in the u-13s match, with Duncan going round Tom on the last bend in heat 7 to win. Sheffield’s Oliver Banyard lost twice to Duncan. Bury’s Harry Radford rode to his third successive maximum in the Junior match, with Sheffield’s Kielan Burton also unbeaten. A&T’s Reece Pollitt won his opening two races in the Senior match, but fell heavily after Harry Radford came down whilst leading heat 7, and pulled out of his last race. Harry won his other three races, but Kielan Burton top scored with 14 points, losing only to Harry in heat 5 and Eryk Motala in heat 12. Reece posted the fastest time, 43.16 seconds, in heat 4.

Round 4 is due to be held at Stockport on Sunday 6th September, 1 pm start. However, the match will be switched to Astley & Tyldesley if Stockport are unable to stage the event.
