TRANSFER NEWS: Carmichael expected to rejoin Horspath

Former Horspath rider Mark Carmichael will be back with the Oxford club for the 2021 season, subject to ratification by British Cycling. With the completion of the paperwork now at BC HQ the club doesn’t envisage any problems with that.

Rider and Manager Zac Payne said ” I’m delighted that Mark has rejoined us back at The Village, having previously raced for Horspath throughout the successful years in the Elite League. He will be back on a full license as Newport will not be taking part in the SW league this year.”
” Mark approached me at the beginning of the year expressing his interest in returning as he wanted to carry on racing, Mark is a great character on and off track and will be a familiar face to the current riders and supporters at Horspath”.
“Mark and I were paired together in the final season of the Elite League in 2016 where our final match ended in a rare draw away to Wednesfield which was enough for us to win the league. On a personal note I’m looking forward to riding with Mark again and securing many more 7-3’s!!”

Club Chairman Geoff Gamage added ” He is very happy to have Mark back at his second home”.

With his Welsh teammate and current World Champion Ben Mould joining us last year and the return of Mark Boaler the Horspath team is looking very hard to beat with Lukas Nowacki, Will Jeffery, George Horsley Jack Ellis and Owen Johnson a part of Payne’s plans for the season. Payne is looking to succeed in the Cross Over league, British Fours, Euro Club and The Indoors with his strong team.
