NEWS: Home Internationals postponed until 2022

The Home Internationals, which were due to be staged at Fife on Saturday 22nd May, have been postponed until 2022. The Fife club broke the news in a statement on their Facebook page:

“The much anticipated Home International tournament will be postponed until 2022. The decision was taken due to Covid19 pandemic and recent vandalism at the track.
“Fife are determined to put on a show and want the circumstances right so that we can promote this excellent sport to the masses. Especially, when the tournament hasn’t been north of the border for so long!
“We had planned to promote it to all the local primary and secondary schools (approximately 3000 youngsters) as well as via local press and social media.
“Although restrictions are thankfully lifting, the tournament would come too soon in regards to restrictions still in place, for the number of spectators we would anticipate.
“Also, with the recent vandalism at the track it will take time to raise funds and repair the damage caused.
“No restrictions + plus promotion that we plan = more participants 👍. Hopefully the decision is understood by the cycle speedway family.
“Thank you to British Cycling for accommodating this change.”
