CLUB NEWS: Hawks youngsters give much improved display

HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES competed in the second of three Norfolk League fixtures at the wonderfully restored Spixworth circuit. Up first were the Youth teams of Hethersett and Norwich who were cheered on loudly by both bands of families. The young Hawks showed they are learning some of the tactics in team racing and gave a much improved display. Mason Martin missed out on a maximum by losing a race to the line in the final race but the main improvement was the Under-10 riders picking up valuable second and third places to keep the scores close to the end. Will Clarke and Jamal Musa made team debuts.

All three Senior teams had plenty of changes from Match 1 and the Hawks brought in Nigel Longlands and Dave Martin plus two youth substitutes. The side did well to recover from a disastrous 7-0 reverse in heat 3 to ease ahead of nearest rivals Norwich with Leigh Cossey and Harley Hamill to the fore. Mason Martin is maturing as a rider quickly and notched two wins in 7-3s with Hamill.
