MATCH REPORT: Astley & Tyldesley Club Championships
20 riders turned out for the annual Astley & Tyldesley Club Individual Championships at Gin Pit on Tuesday evening.
15 youth riders entered, and they raced in two separate groups, based on a mix of age, ability and experience. Thomas Smith raced unbeaten in the Youths B group match, finishing one point ahead of Ted Woods, with debutant Chloe Bassett finishing in third place. Frank White raced unbeaten to win the Youths A group match. Oscar Belt finished ahead of his older sister, Harriet, in a run-off, to take 2nd place, after both had tied on 14 points.
Youths A match:
Frank White 16, Oscar Belt 14, Harriet Belt 14, Levi Edwards 13, Alex Lawless 12, Dexter Mole 12, Jasmine Lawless 10.
Youths B match:
Thomas Smith 16, Ted Woods 15, Chloe Bassett 14, Holly Walmsley 13, Dylan Field 12, Zijun Wang 11, Lillie Field 10, Zining Wang 9.
Six riders lined up for the Senior, Veterans and Junior categories (Frank White was the rider who doubled up). An eight heats qualifying formula was used, before staging the Senior/ Veteran Final and the Junior Final. Reece Pollitt raced unbeaten in the qualifiers and he took the win from Steve Harris in the Senior/ Veteran Final. This is the 9th time that Reece has won the A&T Club Individual Championship! Charlie Burgess was the highest junior points scorer in the qualifiers, and he took the race win in the final, ahead of Tom Morrissey and Duncan Whalley.
