NEWS: World Championships postponed, European Championships brought forward
The World Cycle Speedway Championships, which were due to take place in South Australia from Tueday 15th November to Sunday 4th December, have once again been postponed. International Cycle Speedway Federation secretary Mike Hack confirmed the news in a statement today which is printed below in English & Polish:
The International Cycle Speedway Federation (ICSF) World Council regrets to announce that, once again, the World Championships tournament has had to be postponed, due to the continuing Covid pandemic. The Championships were due to be held in South Australia, from Tuesday 15th November to Sunday 4th December 2022. The World Council made a unanimous decision to delay the staging of the Championships, for a further twelve months. The new World Championships staging dates are Tuesday 14th November to Sunday 3rd December 2023, in South Australia.
The World Council considers that it is not viable to stage the World Championships this year, due to the continued uncertainty and restrictions arising from the Covid pandemic. The World Council does not wish to have a situation where there are reduced turnouts, both in terms of numbers and quality, due to riders and officials not having the confidence or ability to travel in these uncertain and restrictive times. This would devalue these prestigious championships and be of benefit to no one.
As a consequence of postponing the World Championships. the ICSF has brought forward the re-arranged staging of the European Championships, from 2023 to 2022. The Championships were originally due to be promoted by the Astley & Tyldesley club in England in 2021, but were postponed, due to the Covid pandemic. The European Championships will now be staged at Astley & Tyldesley, between Friday 29th and Sunday 31st July 2022.
Rada Światowa Międzynarodowej Federacji Kolarskiej (ICSF) z przykrością informuje, że po raz kolejny turniej Mistrzostw Świata musiał zostać przełożony z powodu trwającej pandemii Covid. Mistrzostwa miały się odbyć w Australii Południowej, od wtorku 15 listopada do niedzieli 4 grudnia 2022 roku. Rada Światowa podjęła jednomyślną decyzję o odłożeniu mistrzostw o kolejne dwanaście miesięcy. Nowe terminy rozgrywania Mistrzostw Świata to wtorek 14 listopada do niedzieli 3 grudnia 2023 roku w Australii Południowej.
Rada Światowa uważa, że organizowanie Mistrzostw Świata w tym roku jest nieopłacalne ze względu na ciągłą niepewność i ograniczenia wynikające z pandemii Covid. Rada Światowa nie życzy sobie sytuacji, w której frekwencja będzie zmniejszona, zarówno pod względem liczby, jak i jakości, z powodu braku pewności siebie i możliwości podróżowania w tych niepewnych i restrykcyjnych czasach przez jeźdźców i urzędników. To zdewaluowałoby te prestiżowe mistrzostwa i nie przyniosłoby nikomu korzyści.
W konsekwencji przełożenia Mistrzostw Świata. ICSF przyspieszyła zmianę organizacji Mistrzostw Europy od 2023 do 2022 roku. Mistrzostwa pierwotnie miały być promowane przez klub Astley & Tyldesley w Anglii w 2021 roku, ale zostały przełożone z powodu pandemii Covid. Mistrzostwa Europy odbędą się teraz w Astley & Tyldesley, od piątku 29 do niedzieli 31 lipca 2022 roku.
