CLUB NEWS: Newport get off to winning start

Newport cycle speedway club got their new season off to a winning start, winning round 1 of the Junior League at the East Newport track, recording a rare win over the powerful Poole club and also headed Exeter, Horspath, Southampton and East Newport in a very impressive display.

The 27 Newport riders including 6 debutants all rode their hearts out to score a massive 232 points, 29 points ahead of Poole.

Indvidually the club had Kalem Martin, Esmae Lewis, Sophie Bees, Sam Marsh and Ben Truscott all reaching A finals.

The next Junior League round is at Horspath on Saturday May 7th.
