CLUB NEWS: A quiet weekend for Hawks

HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES had a quieter weekend after two busy ones but there was still action to report on. While at the Memorial Playing Field there were three busy training sessions on Saturday morning and a group getting the track ready on Sunday for Wednesday night’s first home fixture – a Norfolk Grand Prix round for U8s, U10s and U13s at 7 p.m., two riders were further afield making an impression.

Mason Martin was at the England Junior training camp at Ipswich with club coach Nigel Longlands in attendance to pick up some new training hints. Nigel was impressed by Mason’s performance.

If Mason needs any further inspiration to progress he need look no further than a Tuesday night training teammate in Glyn Morgan. Glyn started racing at the same age as Mason back in 1975 and, after a runners-up place at the South-East Veterans Grand Prix at Eaton Park last Saturday, Glyn was back on the Eurovets series for the first time in three years. He raced in the first round at Horspath (Oxford) on Saturday and won the Over-60s category in fine style.
