CLUB NEWS: Stars make trip North of the Border
The latest Norfolk grand prix round for Under 8’s, Under 10’s and Under 13’s took place at Eaton Park on Wednesday 18th May and 3 Norwich riders took part. Stanley Budds rode in the Under 10’s event and was 2nd in the A Final. Will Blackmore & Zachary Eastwood rode in the Under 13’s event and this saw Will take the win in the A Final with Zachary 3rd.
The next Norfolk Grand Prix will be for Under-16s, Female (10+) and Seniors at Eaton Park on June 1st – the first round in this category at Harford Park having been postponed twice on consecutive wet Wednesdays and now rearranged for October.
4 Norwich riders travelled up to Scotland for a weekend of racing which started with the Home Internationals at Fife on Saturday 21st May. Tom Blackmore was the first Norwich rider in action in the Junior match for Scotland where he scored 11 points as Scotland went down to a 61-118 defeat to England.
The Over 40’s event was next and this saw Paddy Wenn, Dave Blackmore & Steve Copping don their Ireland shirts where they helped Ireland to a 3rd place finish with 37 points. Paddy scored 12 of those points with Steve scoring 4 and Dave 2. England won the match with 68 points
Paddy & Steve then rode for Ireland in the Senior match which was also won by England on 67 points. Ireland were 4th with 23 points of which Paddy scored 12 and Steve 4

The following day Glasgow staged the 3rd round of the EuroVets where Paddy finished 2nd in the Over 50’s A Final after scoring a maximum in the Qualifying heats
This weekend will be a busy one for Norwich as several Stars are expected to be at Hethersett on Saturday for the 3rd British Youth & Junior League round which will also count towards the South-East Grand Prix. Sunday will see the Stars make the trip to Whitton Sports Centre to face Ipswich in South-East League Division 1, Division 2 and Youth League matches whilst on Bank Holiday Friday 3rd June there will be a Norwich team taking part in the Rod Witham Memorial 4’s at Hethersett.
Training takes place at Eaton Park most Tuesdays from 6.15pm
