MATCH REPORT: Manchester League Grand Prix Round 3

The Manchester League Grand Prix series moved to Bury, for its Round 3 staging, on Wednesday evening.
The Division 2 match was raced first, and it continued the run of close encounters between Astley & Tyldesley and Bury. A&T’s top five scorers beat Bury’s top five by five points, to win the Division 2 match for the second time this year, 66-61. There was a repeat of the previous two rounds, in which three riders raced unbeaten in the three categories ridden. They were Bury’s Bobby Dunphy in the u-10s category, Bury’s Jayden Hancock, in the u-13s section, and A&T’s Duncan Whalley, in the u-16s group.

Ten riders turned out for the Division 1 match, as Bury took their first win of the series. Bury’s Mike Baldock raced to a fine 16 points maximum score. Defending champions, A&T, finished 2nd to retain their lead in the table.
