MATCH REPORT: Wednesfield overcome local rivals East Park

East Park started their Midland League campaign off against local rivals Wednesfield.

The Division 3 match opened proceedings with both clubs fielding 10 riders. Two 5 man formulas were used with some great riding by all the youngsters.

East Park, down on strength for the Division 1 match, were always going to struggle. Jamie Ball earned an exclusion from match day referee, Al Bentley, for running into Carl Parfitt’s rear after trying hard to chase Carl down.

The rest of the meeting went well but Wednesfield, with two graded riders, were far too strong for East Park who will struggle in Division 1 this season until their new riders gain more experience.

The Division 2 match was an entertaining affair with some great racing by the young riders. With new rules, Wednesfield used their other graded rider in the second team, none of the other riders were able to compete with parents asking why such a good rider was racing against younger riders.

The weather was great and all the meetings were watched by a reasonable crowd.
