HSBC UK ELITE GP RESULTS: Mould and Morton take spoils

The opening round of the HSBC UK Elite GP certainly didn’t disappoint, with two very competitive fields, which produced some close racing.

British champion, Ben Mould, hit the top of the leaderboard with an accomplished performance in the elite men category, beating Lewis Osborne in the penultimate heat to take the title.

Myke Grimes beat Charlie Rumbold in a run off for third, while Matt Smith beat Dean Hook for the final spot of prize money.

Earlier in the day, Ed Morton came out on top in a dramatic three rider run off with Brandon Whetton and Carl Parfitt. The latter clashed on the third bend after Whetton tried to power round both riders. Whetton recovered first and took the runners up spot.

Another three rider run off was required for 4th and 5th, with Pierce Bacon winning, followed by Fraser Garnett and Jake White just missing out on the prize fund.

The day overall was a success with some top class racing throughout and will hopefully have provided a solid base for Cycle Speedway’s newest competition to progress from.
